A Sloth Sighting and Fond Farewell

Day 6

Wrapping up our experience in Costa Rica, we transferred back to San Jose and made a stop at INBioparque, where we enjoyed a lovely nature walk – the iguanas outnumbered the students! The thrill of the morning was certainly getting to see a sloth. After lunch there, we checked into our hotel and had some downtime before our farewell dinner.

EF booked an amazing location for our final farewell. We dined overlooking the city, with a really beautiful view. After dinner, our group, along with others (even one from Littleton, CO!), danced together on the outdoor dancefloor. We were also entertained by a talented dance group that performed traditional numbers in stunning costumes.

I hope that, by now, you’ve heard lots of stories from your students. They certainly left their mark on this amazingly diverse country. Our director was very impressed with them all and left them with these parting words:

“Do your best, everyday, in whatever you are doing. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t do something. You are all capable of whatever you put your mind to. Each day, find a way to help another person in any small way. If you do these things, you’ll never go wrong in life.”

Luis, Kelly and I are so very grateful for the opportunity to have experienced this time with your students. Thank you for entrusting us with your children! It was a trip that none of us will ever forget!
