Kayaking, Swimming and Hiking Keep Travelers Active
It was another lovely day today in Costa Rica! We had a couple of nice rain showers which were a welcome relief from the heat.
First thing this morning, we enjoyed a beautiful kayak trip on Lake Arenal. This is man-made lake not far from the volcano is used for many hydro-power projects in La Fortuna.
After kayaking, we made the trek down to La Fortuna waterfall. Our adventurous ones waded into the water near the falls and the rest enjoyed the refreshing swimming hole nearby. It was quite an effort to climb back to the bus, but everyone did a great job! Thankfully, there were steps built into the steep incline that made it possible.
After lunch, we enjoyed some free time in the town. Our first stop was the ice cream shop, where the whole group enjoyed a tasty treat! From there, Luis, Kelly and I each took a group for shopping, exploring, etc.
Today is Luis’ birthday so it is certain to be a fun evening with much celebration. Tomorrow, we’ll be packing up to drive back to San Jose, but we’ll get to visit the amazing INBioparque on the way. If you’ve never heard of this, check out their website.
I think Mrs. B is the most excited of us all to visit this incredible place!
I can’t believe tomorrow is our last full day here in this wonderful country. It’s difficult to describe the whole experience – it has been so much more than just “fun” for us. We’ve seen our students step out of their comfort zones, take risks, be wonderful ambassadors, laugh, cry, and everything in between. Three years ago when I imagined this trip, I couldn’t have possibly understood the impact it would have on us all.
Thank you, once again, for entrusting us with your children. It has enriched us more than you could know.
